A new housing assistance program has been implemented for households in Baldwin County and the City and County of Mobile. The Homeless Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing Program is part of the economic stimulus legislation under the American Recovery and Re-Investment Act of 2009. The goal is to help households keep their housing whenever possible or back into housing should homelessness occur.

For Mobile and Baldwin counties, the program is known as Housing Link. The City of Mobile, Mobile County, and the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs have contracted with Housing First, Inc. to administer the program for the benefit of households in the two-county region.
